More Notes from Persia , March 18, 2011, 8:00pm, Paramount Theatre, Oakland. Oakland East Bay Symphony once again celebrate the Persian New Year ("Nowruz") on March 18. Pianist Tara Kamangar was joined by Persian soloists Cyrus Beroukhim (violin) and Arash Amini (cello) in a performance of Beethoven's ingenious Triple Concerto, a popular work with a unique combination of instruments taking solo turns with the orchestra. OEBS also performed works by Persian composers Behzad Ranjbaran, whose music has recently been performed by such artists as Joshua Bell, Yo-Yo Ma and Renee Fleming, Ahmad Pejman, who is known for his film scores and popular music, as well as his orchestral works, and a piece by composer Omid Zoufonoun,Manteq at-Tayr (Language of the Birds).
