"Hungarian Echoes" conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen discusses the level of inventiveness in the music of Haydn, Ligeti, and Bartók -- the featured composers in the festival; the flexibility and openness of the players of the New York Philharmonic; and the challenges of performing music that spans centuries. "Hungarian Echoes": A Philharmonic Festival, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, runs from March 10 to 26, 2011, at Avery Fisher Hall.
