"Crosstown" is a composition by Ljova (a.k.a. Lev Zhurbin), which was greatly inspired by the collaboration of the singer Rokia Traore and the Kronos Quartet. It originally appeared in an all-viola version on Ljova's debut album, Vjola: World on Four Strings (Kapustnik Records). Here is the premiere of the arrangement for the group Brooklyn Rider - featuring: Johnny Gandelsman and Colin Jacobsen, violins; Nicholas Cords, viola; Eric Jacobsen, cello; Jeffrey Beecher, bass; and Mark Suter on percussion. Live from Joe's Pub, at the Public Theater in New York, January 2008. For more on Brooklyn Rider, see for more on Ljova and to hear more of his compositions, see
