St. Louis Symphony Orchestra | Edward Elgar's Serenade for Strings (excerpt)
Seeded by slso on 2 May 2021
Author: St. Louis Symphony Orchestra
In this digital concert excerpt, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra string players and Music Director Stéphane Denève perform Edward Elgar's Serenade in E minor.   Elgar shows off his skill in writing for his own instrument family—it’s all in the bow. The Serenade opens with a rhythmic pulse that broadens into sunny, lyrical lines. Its central Larghetto combines passion and vulnerability. Finally, a sunset walk in the countryside, complete with sweet remembrances of the piece’s earlier themes.   This performance is available to stream on demand on from April 8-May 8.
