Soprano Michelle Bradley made her San Diego Opera debut in the fall of 2019 in the title role of Verdi’s Aida. Miss Bradley made recent notable debuts in Frankfurt as Leonora in La Forza del Destino, in Nancy, France and Erfurt, Germany as the title role in Aida, the Deutsche Opera Berlin in staged performances of Verdi’s Requiem, and returned to the Metropolitan Opera as Clotilde in Norma. Of Miss Bradley in the role of Aida, David Bennett, General Director of San Diego Opera said, “This is the role that will make her career, I’m sure, her voice is in the lineage of Leontyne Price, with a bright, gleaming top and rich and full in the middle." Words like that are music to Bradley’s ear, since Price was the singer who inspired her to dream beyond her planned goal of becoming a grade-school music teacher.
