Da Camera artistic director Sarah Rothenberg on Mieczyslaw Weinberg's piano quintet: "The quintet is in five movements, and it's written in 1944, so Weinberg is only 25 years old, and it really encompasses a lot of what he must have lived at this moment. ... The work emotionally runs the scope of celebrating life in a lot of ways, but then you feel in this last movement this conflict of these horrible things that can happen, historically, but at the same time, the joy that can be in life."
