Watch the ECSO in rehearsal for the upcoming concert on 2/20/16 - Heart Throbbing Romance. Dmitri Shostakovich composed in the Soviet Union and used his music to make commentary about Joseph Stalin. In his ninth symphony, Shostakovich represented the Soviet regime in the lower brass melody and the lower class are portrayed as the bassoon cadenza that follows.
