When Caroline Shaw won the Pulitzer Prize for music in 2014 for her piece Partita for 8 Voices, she became the youngest winner of the prestigious award. The piece embodies multiple facets of Shaw's life, ranging from Bach to Folk Music of her North Carolina roots. These connections caught the attention of and resulted in collaborations with Beyonce and Kanye West to name just a few. Join the YC Choral Ensembles for “A Tapestry of Song” on Sunday, October 20th, 3:00pm in the Performing Arts Center under the direction of Joshua Harper and Arlene Hardy. This concert will feature performances by Chamber Singers, Women’s Chorale, and Master Chorale. Chamber Singers will sing a set with Fall pieces by Ingalls, Gwyneth Walker, and a stunning arrangement of “Autumn Leaves” by Deke Sharon. Master Chorale will close the concert with F.J. Haydn’s masterful “Mass in Time of War” along with full orchestra featuring some of the area’s finest players. Join us for what’s sure to be a wonderful afternoon of Choral Music!
