Windsor Symphony co-commissioned the new work with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra with funding support from the Winnipeg Arts Council.

In tribute to this anniversary, Radio New Zealand Concert (RNZC) will be featuring a special interview with his surviving wife Penny on the music news and current affairs programme, Upbeat (12:00pm - 1:30pm). The music of Larry Pruden will also feature in the Made in New Zealand programme with recordings of Soliloquy for Strings, Looking for a Lost Guinea-Pig at Daybreak, Haast Highway, String Trio and Taranaki (4:00pm - 5:00pm). Toronto-based TorQ Percussion Quartet will perform Christos Hatzis’ new percussion quartet Modulations on their Debut Atlantic tour in Canada this month. This tour includes five performances across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. TorQ recently performed Modulations in their inaugural Toronto Concert Series programme on 8 September.

Gareth Farr’s set of three songs Still Sounds Lie is to feature in a ten-date tour across New Zealand in September with soprano Pepe Becker and harpist Helen Webby. The programme titled ‘Love’s Nature’ includes a range of works from Medieval to contemporary with themes of telling tales of birth, death and lovers’ unions. The poetry in Farr’s work speaks of the beauty and mystery of the sea.
