Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Seattle Symphony Concertmaster Alexander Velinzon began violin lessons at the age of 6 and went on to graduate from the Leningrad School for Gifted Children.After moving to the U.S. in 1990, he studied with renowned pedagogue Dorothy DeLay at The Juilliard School, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
