The Israel Festival Orchestra was founded in 2003 by conductor, pianist, and composer Gil Shohat in collaboration with violinist Eckart Lorenzen, concertmaster of the Israel Symphony Orchestra and the Israeli Opera, and the pianist Batia Steinbock-Lorenzen.
