Eminent American conductor Andrew Litton was born in New York and educated at the Juilliard School where he studied piano and conducting. A protege of Mstislav Rostropovich, Litton began his serious conducting career as an Exxon Arts Endowment Conducting Fellow with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C.
