(1809 - 1847)  German pianist, composer, and conductor.  In adolescence, his abilities as a pianist brought him early fame.  His Octet for Strings, written at age 16, and his Midsummer Night's Dream Overture at age 17 displayed a full mastery of composition.  He was deeply interested in the musical tradition established by J.
