(1843 - 1907).  Grieg found early encouragement from notable musicians including Liszt, who praised his Piano Concerto.  Though Grieg admired Wagner's operatic achievements, he sought inspiration for his songs and instrumental works in the folk music traditions of Norway and Scandinavia.
