(1885-1935).  Austrian composer. Berg's early works are influenced by romantic era composers, but he began studying with Arnold Schoenberg in 1904, and with fellow student Anton Webern they launched a musical movement referred to as the Second Viennese School, where tonality in music was either in question, or clearly avoided.  In form, he still used traditional baroque and classical musical vehicles, such as the dance suite, passacaglia and variations, and the rhapsody.  By 1917 Berg began...
