Guitarist, George (Jiri) Svoboda has been recording and performing for nearly 35 years. He was a first place winner in the Guitar Competition of the City of Kromeriz, Czechoslovakia, and has been heard in recital in Europe, Canada, Mexico and the Far East. Mr. Svoboda has performed with the San Diego Symphony, San Diego Ballet, San Diego Opera and Camarada. Currently he is an Artist in Residence in the San Diego City Schools and a Professor at Mesa College and San Diego State University. As co-founder of the Benedetti/Svoboda Duo he recorded many CD’s with fellow Camarada member Fred Benedetti. George earned his Bachelor and Masters of Music at San Diego State University.  In addition to performing and teaching, Mr. Svoboda is also a recognized arranger of music for solo guitar, small ensembles and full orchestra.  His music is rooted in the folk traditions of Eastern Europe and his transcriptions have won him praise from musicians and critics.
