Biography
Sinfonia Tamesa is one of London's leading non-professional orchestras. Consisting mainly of music graduates, semi-professional musicians and talented amateurs, the orchestra rehearses and performs at venues in the Waterloo area. Sinfonia Tamesa is known for programming adventurous, challenging repertoire alongside better-known orchestral works and in doing so aims to consistently deliver interesting, accessible concerts to the highest possible standard. The orchestra also prides itself on providing a platform for promising new soloists and composers.

In 2008 the orchestra was selected to take part in the BBC2 programme Maestro alongside celebrity conductors including Goldie, Alex James, Katie Derham, Jane Asher and Bradley Walsh. Since then it has performed several important premières including the UK premières of Nielsen's Overture to Amor og Digteren and James Francis Brown's Prospero’s Isle, and the world première of Matthew Taylor's Humoreskes for viola and orchestra.

“a marvellous group of enthusiastic players who approach everything they are doing in a wonderfully professional manner!”. Julian Lloyd Webber.
