Biography
Alice Teyssier flute/soprano

Soprano Alice Teyssier is gaining recognition as a young ambassador for under-represented repertoire with a commitment to both early and new music. During the 2008-09 season, Ms. Teyssier was heard singing contemporary music at the Galerie No Smoking in Strasbourg, France, on the Spring Festival for New Music at the University of California - San Diego, at the Centre Acanthes in Metz, France, and presented Baroque concerts at the Festwochen Attersee in Austria, St Paul's Episcopal Church in Cleveland, the Kapelle St Michael in Freiburg, Germany, and at the Oberlin Conservatory.

Ms. Teyssier has a long history of collaborating with composers. Most recently, she premièred Aaron Helgeson's new piece 'Notes on a Page (of Sappho)’ for soprano and ensemble at the University of California - San Diego, and worked closely with composers and performed their works at the Yale School of Music Summer Contemporary Music Workshop. She has pursued the collaborative angle between performer and composer at June in Buffalo, the Centre Acanthes, the Ensemble Akademie Freiburg, the International Ensemble Modern Academy, and the American Music Festival, among others.

In 2007, Ms. Teyssier sang the leading role of Alice/Renee in the American premiere of Olga Neuwirth's opera 'Lost Highway,' based on David Lynch's film of the same name. Performances were held at the Oberlin Conservatory and at Miller Theatre in New York City, to critical acclaim.

Also a professional flutist specializing in contemporary music, Ms. Teyssier has performed across the United States and Europe. She is a co-founder of Echoi, an ensemble dedicated to the creative programming of new and rarely-heard works; the ensemble has appeared in concert at the Kennedy Center, Symphony Space in New York City, Studio Z in Saint Paul, and the University of California – San Diego, as well as completed residencies at the University at Buffalo and the Oberlin Conservatory.

Ms. Teyssier completed her Bachelor's and Master's of Music at the Oberlin Conservatory, and recently finished a specialization diploma in Strasbourg, France under the guidance of Mario Caroli. She currently resides in Freiburg, Germany.
