Biography

Now in its' 34th season the Laredo Phil is dedicated to Engaging, Enriching, Entertaining and Educating the local community through music. Housed jointly at Texas A&M International University and Laredo Community College the Phil has been under the directorship of Brendan Townsend since 2003. The Laredo Phil was the recipient of the 2007 ASCAP Award for Innovative Programming. To learn more about the orchestras' repertoire choices click here.
Mission Statement
“The
Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra is organized and operated exclusively for
educational and cultural enrichment purposes by: Sponsoring and
administering an orchestra of the highest artistic standard; Offering a full range
of concerts and performances of the highest artistic excellence; Working with
educational institutions, arts organization as well as private and public
entities to enhance and strengthen the understanding and appreciation of
all genres of music including master works of classical, contemporary and
international music; Sponsoring or providing
musical educational activities, programs and opportunities for the
children and youth of the community; Encouraging the general
cultural development of the community and region that it serves.”
