John Pierce`s Tristan is described by the Press as “a Tristan of passionate Impetus and never tiring penetrating power." In Chemnitz he appeared as Tristan with Evelyn Herlitzius in a new production by Michael Heinicke, with Niksa Bareza conducting. In 2005 he was a part of the celebrated Miracle of Minden, the new production of Tannhäuser of Keith Warner. "Festival-worthy" wrote the media, "primarily John Charles Pierce in the title-role. Intense expression as actor, he can trump vocally. His beautiful tenor-timbre has a big flexibility and his singing shows, that Belcanto and the understanding of the lyrics by Wagner is possible. The Rom Erzählung was seldom heard so coloured and touching." In 2006 he could be heard as Tristan in Chemnitz again and sang the title-role in the new production of Lohengrin. He was Tannhäuser at the State Opera Hannover and sang Tristan at the Koblenz Theater in 2007. He also sang the title role of Tannhäuser at the original setting of the opera, the Wartburg in Eisenach in 2007 and did Tristan next to Iréne Theorin with the Rotterdam Philharmonic and Valery Gergiev as well as a new production of Carmen at the Koblenz Opera House. In 2008 he sang Lohengrin in Moscow,Florestan in Rio de Janeiro and went on tour to Japan with the Opéra National de Paris and the Wiener Staatsoper as Tristan/Florestan Cover. In August 2008 he was Tristan in Canada and made his role debut as Siegmund/Die Walküre in Cottbus in fall 2008. In 2008/09 he sang in new productions of Otello, Die Walküre and Ariadne auf Naxos (role debuts) in Koblenz. 2009/10 he can be heard as Lohengrin in Minden and Sofia and as Tristan in Wels and Tokyo. In 2011 he will make his role-debut as Parsifal in Zagreb.
