Yu-Chien Tseng was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He began playing violin at the age of ve and studied violin
with Po-Shan Lin, Ying-Liang Shen, I-Ching Li and C. Nanette Chen in Taiwan. He entered the Curtis
Institute of Music in US in 2008, where he studies with violinist Ida Kava an.
Fifteen-year-old Yu-Chien won the rst prize of the 10th Pablo Sarasate International Violin Competition
and the junior division of the 2009 Philadelphia Orchestra Albert M. Green eld Student Competition. In
2006 he won the third prize at the junior section of the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition.
In 2004 he won the rst prize at the Taiwan National Music Competition.
He has performed as a soloist with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, the Academy of Taiwan Strings, the
Taipei Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra in US, the Navarra Symphony Orchestra
in Spain and the Cross-Strait Peace Symphony Orchestra and he was also invited to give some recitals in
Taiwan and Spain.
