Biography
Cellist PAUL WIANCKO has won top prizes in the Los Angeles Debut, Lutoslawski International, Pasadena Showcase, and ASTA competitions. A recipient of the Los Angeles Spotlight Award, Paul has received scholarship awards from the Los Angeles Violoncello Society and the Philharmonic Society of Orange County.  In 2007, he made his European solo debut in Warsaw performing the Lutoslawski Cello Concerto with the Polish Radio Symphony and his South American debut performing the Shostakovich Cello Concerto with the Bahia Symphony Orchestra in Brazil. A devoted chamber musician, Paul has performed alongside such esteemed artists as Lynn Harrell, Arnold Steinhardt, Midori, and Ani Kavafian, and has been invited to the Marlboro Music Festival.  Earning further accolades as a composer, producer, and collaborator, Paul has woven his “cellistry” into a diverse array of projects, from indie rock, folk, and jazz to his own ‘Hip-Hop Cello Concerto No. 1,’ the New York premiere of which was hailed as "surprising, fun, fresh, and innovative" (Sequenza21).  He has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California and an Artist Diploma from the Colburn School in Los Angeles, where he studied with Ronald Leonard.
