Biography
Sung Yup "Sam" Jung began composing at age 13 and currently attends Phillips Academy Andover where he plays the oboe with the Academy Orchestra and the Concert Band. He studies composition with Rodney Lister at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, where he has had several of his compositions premiered.

As a featured young composer of the New Jersey Philharmonic's 10th Anniversary Gala Concert in 2008, Sam has had his orchestral works premiered by the Philharmonic in Avery Fischer Hall of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and in Isaac Stern Auditorium of Carnegie Hall. In 2009, he attended the Young Artists Composition Program at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, where he studied with composers Martin Amlin and Justin Casinghino. Recently, in 2010 and 2011, he has attended the Young Artists Program at Yellow Barn Music School and Festival, where he studied composition with the composer Stephen Coxe and had lessons with Steven Mackey, Christopher Theofanidis, and David Ludwig. Sam also has had lessons or masterclasses or both with Nico Muhly, William Bolcom, Wei-Chieh Lin, and others.

As a Hi-Fi enthusiast, Sam frequents Head-Fi, an online community and forum on Hi-Fi equipment, music, and sound science. He also features a collection of various headphones, a favorite of his being the orthodynamic Fostex T50RP. Sam enjoys both classical and popular music, especially his favorite genre, Indie. He has two homes, one near Boston, MA, and the other in South Korea.
