Biography
Revealed Time, for viola and orchestra, features the virtuoso Chinese-Canadian violist Teng Li, Principal Violist of the Toronto Symphony. “Yuasa’s music shapes time through a dramatic interplay between soloist and orchestra, and calls for a wealth of sonorities to be produced by the soloist,” states Alex Pauk, Music Director & Conductor.

The work ranges from crystalline, prismatic, kaleidoscopic forms to dramatic, even romantic statements of passion - from the intimate to the gigantic, using the full range of the viola’s possible sonic resources.

Teng Li is establishing herself as a diverse and dynamic performer internationally. Along with her TSO solo appearances, Teng has performed with the National Chamber Orchestra, the Santa Rosa Symphony, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, Shanghai Opera Orchestra, as well as Esprit Orchestra.

Teng is also an active recitalist and chamber musician participating in the festivals of Marlboro, Santa Fe, Mostly Mozart, Moritzburg and the Rising Stars Festival in Caramoor. Teng is pleased to be once again performing with Esprit Orchestra, having soloed with us in 2012 in Alfred Schnittke's Viola Concerto, and then prior to that in Giya Kancheli's Stix.
