Biography

For well over a decade
American pianist Jon Nakamatsu hasbeen heard throughout the United States, Europe and Asia
as a concerto soloist, solo recitalist, and chamber collaborator of
extraordinary musical powers.
A high school teacher of
German with no formal conservatory training, Mr. Nakamatsu’s electrifying
performance of Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto won him the Gold Medal at
the 1997 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition amidst a field of
experienced competition warriors.
Most
notably he has performed to universal critical acclaim in such venues as New York’s Carnegie Hall, LincolnCenter for the Performing Arts, the KennedyCenter
in WashingtonD.C.,
and in such cities as Boston, Chicago,
Cincinnati, Paris,
London, Berlin,
and Milan.
