Biography
Born in 1981 in St Petersburg, Polina Leschenko began playing the piano under her father’s guidance at the age of six. She made her solo debut at the age of eight with the Leningrad Symphony Orchestra. She studied with Vitali Margoulis, Pavel Gililov, Alexandre Rabinovitch-Barakovsky and Christopher Elton. At the age of 16 she received her Higher Diploma with the greatest distinction from the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. She has appeared at many of Europe’s major concert halls including the Barbican Hall in London, Salle Gaveau in Paris and Sala Verdi in Milan. She has been invited to the Fêtes musicales de Biarritz, the Chopin Festival in Poland, the Villars Festival in Switzerland, the Festival de La Roque d’Anthéron, Bordeaux Festival, Martha Argerich’s ‘Meeting Point’ in Beppu (Japan) and recitals in Brussels, Strasbourg, Ancona, Leeds, Berlin, Rheingau, Luxemburg and Harrogate. In February 2006 she makes her début with the Hallé Orchestra. She is a regular chamber music player appearing with Christian Poltera, Mischa Maisky, Mark Drobinsky, Ivry Gitlis, Renaud Capuçon and Gautier Capuçon. Recordings comprise solo and chamber music on EMI Music and Pure Music.
