Biography
(1710-1784).  Wilhelm Friedemann Bach was the eldest son of the J.S. Bach family.  He studied with his father, and at Leipzig University.  He held posts as organist and composer in Dresden and Halle, and his music includes traits of the baroque as well as the rococo (style galante) period.  Friedemann had difficulties with his employers and colleagues, and later struggled to earn a living in Berlin.  Despite his employment difficulties, he left a broad legacy of music, including symphonies, concertos, chamber and solo keyboard works, and 33 cantatas.
