Building Community, presented by PNC Arts Alive features a wide diversity of exciting music and artists. The concert opens with Sinfonia for orchestra No. 1 by Oberlin trained composer George Walker, the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize for composition. We welcome Pacho Flores, originally from Venezuela and considered to be the world's finest trumpeter, performing Márquez’s Trumpet Concerto, possibly only the second performance in the United States. We end with Peter Boyer’s Ellis Island, The Dream of America, featuring actors and a Symphony developed video of historic images submitted by Delaware residents and the Delaware County Historical Society that dramatically highlight many heritages that have contributed to the United States. This will be a program not to miss.
