NEC Philharmonia, Wolff / Mahler, Schuller
Boston, Massachusetts
Wednesday, 30 September 2015 - 7:30 PM
Ensemble: NEC Philharmonia
Conductor: Hugh Wolff
This season, NEC's orchestra programs allow you to discover the music of living composers, alongside familiar masterworks.

Originally planned as a celebration of composer Gunther Schuller's 90th birthday, Schuller's death on June 21 has turned this and other fall performances of his music into a first look at his legacy. Dreamscape had its first BSO performances at Tanglewood in 2012, and its Symphony Hall premiere in April 2015.

Conductor Hugh Wolff's work with Mahler has been well received by Boston audiences, particularly during NEC's "Mahler Unleashed" season in 2011. "As thrilling as any performance on record" (Boston Globe) was among the accolades for Mahler's First Symphony as performed by the NEC Philharmonia under Wolff's baton.
