NEC Wind Ensemble, Peltz / Blake, Gandolfi, Ruggles, Schuller, Sweelinck
Boston, Massachusetts
Tuesday, 10 November 2015 - 7:30 PM
Conductor: Charles Peltz
From the ceremonial fanfares of the Renaissance to the firebrand composers of today, wind ensemble concerts can blow through the centuries in a single evening.

Originally planned as a celebration of composer Gunther Schuller's 90th birthday, Schuller's death on June 21 has turned this and other fall performances of his music into a first look at his legacy.

In tonight's concert, Charles Peltz and the NEC Wind Ensemble pair works by Schuller with works from NEC faculty Ran Blake, whom Schuller hired to launch NEC's Third Stream (now Contemporary Improvisation) program in 1972.
