Music of the 21st Century Chamber Concert: John Corigliano, Guest Composer
Greencastle, Indiana
Thursday, 13 February 2014 - 7:30 PM
The annual Music of the 21st Century residency provides students and faculty members a special opportunity to study, perform and share with audiences the music of our time. This year we welcome John Corigliano, whose imaginative work has been recognized with a Pulitzer Prize, four Grammy Awards and an Oscar for best film score. Thursday’s concert features DePauw School of Music faculty and students in performances of the composer’s solo and chamber works, such as Mr. Tambourine Man: Seven Poems of Bob Dylan (2008 Grammy Award). For Friday’s gala closing concert, DePauw University Band, Choirs, Orchestra and Opera Program perform works for large ensembles, including a scene from the opera The Ghosts of Versailles and Symphony No. 1 (1991 Grawemeyer and Grammy Awards).
