Saturday, 3 January 2009 - 7:30 PM
Conductor: Tze Law Chan
In Tales from the Arabian Nights, the Orchestra of the Music Makers presents Mi Zhou, a recent graduate of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YST) in Dvorak's Cello Concerto. Ms. Zhou, a winner of the 2004 YST Concerto Competition, has since then been awarded a variety of international prizes. She is currently pursuing a Graduate Performance Diploma at the Conservatory under the guidance of Mr. Li-Wei Qin.

The Orchestra of the Music Makers is Singapore's newest orchestra, dedicated to creating new avenues for young persons to pursue their passion for music. It was praised by the press, in its successful August 2008 début charity concert, as having a 'unanimity of purpose'.

In this concert to open the new year it explores the realm of Romanticism with works by Wagner, Dvorak and Rimsky-Korsakov led by its Music Director, Mr. Chan Tze Law.
