In honor of Charles Dutoit's final season as chief conductor, we created this video to celebrate his 30+ years of artistic leadership with The Philadelphia Orchestra.
Charles Dutoit made his Philadelphia Orchestra debut on July 14, 1980, at the Robin Hood Dell West, and has appeared with the Orchestra every season since. In 1990 he became artistic director of the Orchestra's summer series at the Mann Center (until 1999), as well as artistic director and principal conductor of the Orchestra's summer series at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (until 2010). In 2007 Maestro Dutoit was named chief conductor of The Philadelphia Orchestra, a post he took up with the 2008-09 season. With the 2012-13 season he will become the Orchestra's conductor laureate.
