Alex Kosiorek is an award winning engineer and multimedia producer specializes in projects and initiatives that promote excellence utilizing advanced production techniques and concepts. His goal is to advance the audio and vidusal engineering arts, focusing on production that promotes high quality reproduction through technically advanced mediums and artistically sensitive recordings.

As a musician, engineer and producer, Alex’s expertise is multifaceted; ranging from audio codec’s, surround sound, live radio broadcasting, directing short form and long form broadcast productions, detailed equipment implementation, multimedia and copyright as well as being a conservatory trained musician. With over 20 years experience, Alex has completed many industry firsts and is known to ensure the success of projects from inception to conclusion, including production, licensing and distribution.

Alex’s credits are extensive including productions for notable record labels, artists, ensembles and organizations. Alex's recordings and discography include artists such as violinist Hilary Hahn, the Westhuizen piano duo, pianists Sergei Babayan and Leon Fleisher, American classical and multi genre violinist and composer Mark O'Connor, American singer-songwriter Josh Ritter, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, the New World Symphony, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and so many more.

Early highlights of his career include engineering for the former Radio Smithsonian, post producing the programs ‘Folkmasters’ & ‘Jazz Smithsonian.’ He has engineered video productions including those for the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. Alex was asked to become the very first audio engineer fellow for the New World Symphony (NWS), with Michael Tilson Thomas. There, he honed his skills in surround production, recording the symphony’s European Tour in surround at great halls such as the Barbican (London), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), and Konzerthaus (Vienna).

Alex has held posts including “Production Engineer & Producer” for KUAT Communications Group ('Arizona Public Media') at the University of Arizona, where his work included productions for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Arizona Friends of Chamber Music. Then he became the “Audio Recording & Mastering Engineer” for the Corbett Studio in Cincinnati, acting as chief engineer for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, May Festival Chorus and Cincinnati Opera, among others. While in Cincinnati, Alex’s work took on national recognition, producing commercial recordings for ensembles including those for the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, Ohio University Percussion Ensemble, Cincinnati’s Vocal Arts Ensemble and more. These endeavors eventually lead to Alex’s appointment as “Director of Recording Services” at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM). There, he oversaw the modernization of the recording department at CIM, enhancing services to include high definition audio and video production, surround production as well as online multimedia. Alex has started a production company, producing audio, video and multimedia content for artists throughout the country.

Alex has been noted for being able to accomplish many firsts in the industry. Examples include being the first audio fellow for the New World Symphony. He also produced one of the very first high-quality classical Internet streams; winning worldwide praise. Alex was instrumental in the successful launch of WGUC-FM becoming the first radio station in the United States to broadcast in surround (utilizing Neural Surround™). Another example is leading a design team to complete the first THX PM3 Certified Studio in a music conservatory worldwide. His expertise in audio codecs, system design & signal processing has helped several classical and jazz radio stations improve their audio quality, leading to audience growth thus sustaining classical/jazz programming in their regions.

Sharing is knowledge; Alex regularly contributes to trade publications, the Audio Engineering Society (AES), the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and has worked with the Radio Systems Committee (NRSC). Alex has lead informative clinics/workshops highlighting the changing state of the recording industry, copyright law and producing content for online and mobile delivery.
