Meet the Composer awarded Townsend a grant in connection with this performance
of "The Ridgefield Rag." Townsend gave a local lecture on the history of piano four-hands music, and he gave half-hour interview with selections of his music on public radio in Monroe, CT. He also dedicated "The Ridgefield Rag" to the town on the occasion of its 300th anniversay, and presented the town's representative, Rudy Marconi, with a score.

An article about Gerald Steichen's debut as Music Director of the RSO and about the
opening night program. There is a discussion of Douglas Townsend's "Ridgefield Rag" for piano four-hands and orchestra, a piece written in Ridgefield in the mid-eighties and performed by the RSO on the occasion of the town's 300th anniversary. Townsend dedicated the piece to the town, and after the performance presented a copy of the score
to a representative of the town, Rudy Marconi. Gerald Steichen was part of the piano duo
playing the rag with the orchestra. Petko Dimitrov conducted the piece.
