Hello, Sofia18.
This is Dominique.
My daily practice amount depends on my other obligations (school, homework, concerts, etc.).
I try to practice at least one hour on each instrument everyday. Kind of like exercising or brushing hair/teeth. I don't have perfect pitch, but relative pitch. Valerie definitely have perfect pitch. We also have been taking ear-training and music theory classes for many years now, still continuing at Juilliard.

Thanks for the answer, liked the analogy of daily practise with teeth brushing, when I don't practise for too long I really fell like I've forgotten something important :-)
I live too far for attend , but anyway , good luck for your recital!!!!!!

Hii,
I was really "shocked" when I read that you started playing the violin only 5 years ago, listening to your skills I would say you've played for at least 10 years, It's amazing how much talent you have!!! As you learned so much in only five years I'm really curious how much you pracitse a day (both instruments)...and how much free time you have? Keep up the great work and so should your sister you are like the most talented sisters ever!!! Oh, and one last question, do you know Mariella Haubs?
xx

Hey Valerie and Dominique! I watch your videos almost every day on Youtube and really enjoy your playing. May I ask you what do you think is the most important practice or factor (like playing etudes or scales)to improve violin skills? Thank you.

Sorry for this very late response.
Scales & etudes, done slowly, is unbelievably important. So is listening to other musicians, I think. - VK

Yes, we're both California born and raised.
In addition to music studies at Juilliard, we both attend public high schools for regular academic studies.

I started piano when I was six, a year before I picked up violin. Piano, and especially music theory, definitely helped me with violin. - VK

This is Valerie (violin/piano).
I started playing the violin when I was seven (five years ago). I've had many wonderful teachers for violin, piano, and chamber music in San Diego area.
They include Michael & Irina Tseitlin, Hernan Constantino, Jeff Thayer, Rebekah Yoon, George Katz (piano), Tatiana Stignev (piano), and conductors Robert Gilson and Jeff Edmons.
Now I'm in New York, attending Juilliard School of Music, and my teachers include Itzhak Perlman, Donald Weilerstein, and Ernest Barretta (piano).
I think who teaches you is not as important as how you respond to your teacher. Everyone has a different style of teaching and learning. Good luck!

I really love your version of Salut D'Amour, I saw Sarah Chang live recital version of the song and its too fast for me. I like the melody of the song and its beautiful that you emphasize more of the sweetness of the song.
