Sir Simon Rattle, Conductor
Sir Simon Rattle was born in Liverpool in 1955. Following his studies at the Royal Acamy for Music in London, he took on various engagements in England and the USA, where he was principal guest conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He was 25 when he was appointed principal conductor and artistic advisor of the City of Birmingham Orchestra. He became the orchestra's musical director in 1990 until 1998.
