James Ehnes is a Canadian violinist born on January 27, 1976 (Heifetz was 74 years old.) He began playing violin at age 4 and studied with his father until age 9. At age 9, he began his studies with Canadian violinist and pedagogue Francis Chaplin of Brandon University. His orchestral debut took place in Montreal when he was 13.
