Hi BW--that was an awesome experience to perform the premiere of the Bolcom 'Prometheus' with Carl conducting the Pacific Symphony and Pacific Chorale. There are several performances in line with the orchestras which have co-commissioned the piece--looking forward!

How do people feel about using technology to increase classical music's reach worldwide through teaching? I am, perhaps, one of the classical artists to offer Skype teaching on a global level. There are three You Tube videos illustrating my teaching to students in Virginia, and as far as Singapore. I envision this as a wonderful means of teaching without the need for the student to travel all the way to my studio. Can you imagine this in the 20th century? Sandra Okamoto of the Columbus (GA) Ledger-Enquirer conducted an interview with me earlier today, and will release her column about online teaching during the week of August 6th. Do you have thoughts about this, and how it may enhance more public awareness of classical music and piano playing on a global perspective?

This is my first topic posting. For those who know me, not only for the traditional repertoire, but for new music, I enjoy the creative process of joining multiple orchestras to co-commission new works for piano and orchestra, and, in the case of William Bolcom, for piano, orchestra and chorus. If anyone reading this topic would like to share their ideas of how new music can be created and shared among the masses, worldwide, please do share. I am now beginning what plans to be the world's first largest consortium of a projected goal of 100 orchestras to join hands and co-commission Ellen Taaffe Zwilich's next major work for piano and orchestra.
