(1505 - 1585).  English composer and organist.  He served as composer in the royal chapels of four English kings and queens.  Known as "the father of English cathedral music" due to the prolific amount of sacred anthems and motets he composed, he and his student William Byrd dominated the music scene in Elizabethan-era England.
