Gabriel Fauré, Composer
(1845 - 1924). French composer and teacher. He studied with Saint-Saens, and later became an influential teacher himself, with Ravel, Enescu, and Nadia Boulanger among his students. His most important works are his many exquisite art songs (chansons), and the Requiem, which is his masterpiece.
