Benjamin Britten, Composer
(1913-1976). English composer. After early musical studies on piano and viola, and with the composer Frank Bridge, Britten entered the Royal College of Music. Among his teachers were Arthur Benjamin and John Ireland. Britten's compositions are in nearly every genre, including chamber music, orchestral works, and opera.
