Hi!
I am so sorry we haven’t updated in forever! We are officially the worst bloggers ever! It’s actually been very difficult to find a free moment around here! Plus, Nikki is the only one of us that actually brought his computer and the wireless at the hotel doesn’t work which means the only time we have access to a computer is when we come to the American Academy to rehearse…
That being said, I guess I should mention that we are in Berlin now! We have yet to actually see the city but today we will have a few hours to walk around. Last night was our second and last concert here in Germany but since the teachers have a couple of master classes, we are here until Monday, and then off the Denmark!
This has been so much fun and so exciting. As you can imagine, we are all exhausted but still having a great time. And we aren’t tired of each other yet! That’s always a plus considering we have every meal together, rehearse non stop together, travel together, etc…
There have been a few exciting events that have happened! We went to a Berlin Phil concert a couple of nights ago which was unbelievable! The hall, the music, the orchestra….everything was amazing…although, I had my cello (bright yellow case which didn’t help) and they wouldn’t let me unto the hall with it! Since Nikki’s violin and Mr Diaz’s viola is much smaller they would let them go. So, frantically, since they were already flashing the lights for the concert to start, Adrian offered to baby-sit while I watched the first piece and at intermission, I could come out and figure out something to do with it. Lucky enough, our seats were right next to the manager of the orchestra and she generously offered to lock it in her office for the remainder of the concert! So, thanks to Adrian, I was able to hear the entire concert and have my cello safe at all times. :)
As for other exciting things, while we were in Ischia, I somehow got bitten several times by a spider and then had a very bad reaction to it! My legs were covered in a rash and I had to try several different creams and thankfully, they have almost cleared up. Nikki kept making fun of me but I didn’t even care because they itched sooo badly! I think that’s the only thing that we have argued about while on tour! He kept getting so mad at me for scratching them but I just ignored him…:)
Also while we were in Ischia, before our first concert, Nikki comes out if his room with a huge bandage on his face. It literally covered half of his cheek and went over his lips as well. I asked him what had happened and he explained he had cut himself while shaving. Since the cut was around his lip, it hurt every time he talked, smiled, or laughed. So Mr. Diaz and I, being the mature musicians that we are, had a goal to make him laugh as much as possible. I just had to look at him smile and he began to laugh! I started to feel badly and stopped soon after…It turns out that it was just a little cut but since the placement of it was in an area that moved a lot, it was much more painful then it looked…poor Nikki…
As for Adrian, I don’t believe much drama has come to him! Of course, being a vocalist, his life is just one big drama. :) Nikki and I woke up a couple of mornings ago with sore throats and we happened to mention this at breakfast. Now, even though both of us feel fine, Adrian refuses to sit next to us a meals and when the three of us are packed in the back of a car, he doesn’t want to sit in the middle so that he only has to be by one of the “sick” people…We give him so much grief about this! But it’s all in good fun. I shouldn’t be too harsh on him because he is going to be taking Nikki and I around Berlin today since he got to go on a tour earlier this week!
We are all getting along so well and are having a great time! Being the only girl on tour has been challenging though! I’ve made an effort to not be the last one ready to leave and to try to look interested when they talk about sports. Supposedly a huge tennis tournament and soccer game was played a few days ago. I even watch a little bit of one of the girls tennis matches so that I could try to contribute to the conversation. I wasn’t very successful though because I didn’t remember their names and could only describe them by what they were wearing. I also tried watching CNN to see what team had won the soccer match. Mr. Diaz was ecstatic that Barcelona had won so apparently, the game went well!
Hopefully, now that we have a couple of days to enjoy Berlin, there will be more time to write! If not, I will update when we get to Copenhagen!
