Brahms: Hungarian Dances
Both Johannes Brahms, and also Antonin Dvorak wrote some great music that is basically music of joy and dance. What great fun it is to listen to this; it is lighter music, without the heavier aspects of the likes of Mahler or Bruckner whom I enjoy for other occasions.
The selections are:
Orchestrated by Brahms
Orchestrated by Iván Fischer
Orchestrated by Albert Parlow
Orchestrated by R. Schollum
Orchestrated by Frigyes Hidas
Orchestrated by Antonín Dvorák
Performed by the Budapest Festival Orchestra, conducted by Iván Fischer
Here is Tomomi Nishimoto, performing the Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 5
And now here is the Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 15 with Ivan Fischer and the Berliner Philharmoniker
Finally, here’s Ivan Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra on tour in Hong Kong
