Thursday evening in the Powell Hall foyer, while Pres/CEO Fred Bronstein was speaking to the assembled critics--in town for the Music Critics Association of North America conference--one of those critics spilled his beverage. The first one in the house to notice this was Music Director David Robertson, who quickly grabbed some napkins and in no time was on one knee wiping the floor beneath the critic's chair.
After David was done with his on-the-spot janitorial duties, he was standing beside me at the bar. I patted him on the back for his good deed. "Full-service music director," he said.
