Pianist Emanuel Ax makes a welcome return to Carnegie Hall on May 17 to perform a program of works by Copland, Haydn, Beethoven, and Schumann.

Here, Ax reflects on Schumann's romanticism—"there's nothing more romantic than Schumann in a romantic mood"—which, the pianist believes, can largely be explained by the composer's wonderful marriage to Clara.
