I have not posted any music here for a while (too much music, not enough time - the usual conflict). But this concert is just too delightful not to share it via a quick post. Playfulness seems to be the main aspect of all compositions here, and the Donatoni piece (which I have not heard before) was especially gratifying to me. My fellow blogger Maready once referred to Donatoni as the 20th Century Haydn. Although Maready is correct about most things he says about music, I think this designation belongs to Elliott Carter, with Donatoni being more of a 20th Century Hummel. Be that as it may, Donatoni's piece turned out to be far more delightful than a few other works of his I recall having heard in the past.
Because all these works involve small forces, and because the sound engineering is predictably excellent, the humble bitrate does not seem to matter much.
