Internationally acclaimed pianist Ching-Yun Hu plays William Way LGBT Community Center this Saturday, with a reception to follow the concert. Ms. Hu will perform a program including the late Beethoven Sonata Op. 101, Nocturne and Impromptu by gay composer Scriabin, the ferocious Gaspard de la Nuit, and ending with the brilliant transcription of the Blue Danube rhapsody. Includes reception to follow concert with complimentary drinks (courtesy of El Dorado Rum) and hors d’oeuvres. $25 William Way members

A Yamaha artist, Taiwanese pianist Ching-Yun Hu has played a host of international engagements on five continents. Taking up the piano at the age of 5, Ms. Hu moved to the US and began studying at Julliard at 14, a year after her concert debut. Winner of more than a dozen awards and prizes, Ms. Hu took Silver Medal & Audience Favorite Prize in the Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, where she was described by the Jerusalem Post as ‘the only semifinalist with a real “spark,” that elusive superstar quality that everybody looks for... Musical, energetic and full of flair.’ Most recently, she was winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in New York in 2009.
