The Kansas City Symphony performs lush orchestral works by two twentieth-century Russian composers, Sergey Rachmaninoff and Alexander Scriabin, to kick off the month of April. The Elias Quartet performs two recitals for the Friends of Chamber Music, along with pianist Jonathan Biss and wind instrumentalists. The famed Brentano String Quartet appears at the Lied Center this month. Fans of vocal music can enjoy the beautiful Requiem of Maurice Duruflé by the William Baker Festival Singers and also the American recital premiere of Irish mezzo soprano Tara Erraught for the Harriman-Jewell Series. If dance is your thing, the Kansas City Ballet is taking a well-earned rest after its recent performances, but two unusual groups are coming to town, MOMIX for the Performing Arts Series at Johnson County Community College and Stomp at the Kauffman Center. Both are high-energy, visually spectacular shows.
